Waypoint South is an at-risk, residential foster care group home licensed by the Department of Children’s and Families (DCF). The home is dedicated to serving dependent youth, males, who are difficult to place in traditional foster homes or group care due to their histories and behavior.

ABOUT US

Our program operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for young people to live, learn, and grow. We strive to empower young men through individualized therapeutic interventions, academic and vocational training, and opportunities to develop life skills that foster independence and resilience.

Through experiential learning, meaningful relationships with dedicated staff, and a supportive community, our youth are equipped to navigate challenges, build confidence, and take ownership of their futures. Waypoint South recognizes the importance of providing a physical and emotional environment that cultivates creativity, accountability, and the development of critical skills that set the foundation for long-term success.

By prioritizing dignity, respect, and collaboration, Waypoint South aims to inspire and sustain positive change in the lives of the young men we serve. Our efforts focus on empowering youth to realize their full potential, make informed decisions, and take steps toward becoming strong, independent individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities. To accomplish this task, we focus our efforts on the direction of six goals:

Our waypoints to healthy living...

1

IMPLEMENT EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMS

Utilize a balanced approach to care by integrating evidence-based interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement techniques, and restorative practices that encourage personal accountability and positive behavioral change. Incorporate nationally recognized programs like Project Learn and SMART Moves.

2

ESTABLISH A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Create a supportive, restraint-free environment where trauma-informed care is prioritized. Ensure the physical and emotional safety of youth, fostering a culture of dignity, protection, and mutual respect.

3

DELIVER COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES

Provide high-quality medical, mental health, and therapeutic services tailored to the specific needs of youth. Collaborate with a clinical team to ensure every individual receives the care that addresses their unique challenges and promotes their overall well-being.

4

MAINTAIN A WELL-TRAINED WORKFORCE

Ensure consistent staffing levels with well-trained professionals who are committed to supporting youth in a therapeutic, structured, and secure setting. Focus on employee retention through ongoing training and creating a positive workplace culture to maintain low staff turnover rates.

5

FOSTER COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

Build and sustain meaningful relationships with community organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, faith-based groups, local businesses, and vocational training centers. These partnerships enhance youth programming by providing additional resources and opportunities for personal, academic, and professional growth.

6

OFFER ACCREDITED PROGRAMS

Provide access to accredited educational opportunities and vocational training programs, preparing youth for academic success and equipping them with marketable skills to succeed in the modern workforce.
